We strongly urge HGV drivers travelling to or via France to ensure they have a negative COVID test before heading to ports. Those using Kent ports are now also legally required to have a Kent Access Permit HGVs leaving England for France can only cross the Channel with evidence of an authorised negative COVID test, that has been conducted within the 72-hour period before their departure. Dover/Folkestone Update - Both Eurotunnel and the Port of Dover will reopen this morning (circa 7am) for Freight travel from UK to France HOWEVER Drivers will only be allowed to board if they have proof of a Negative COVID test from within the last 72 hours. Currently the UK military is organising Covid Testing with the “Lateral Flow” test (result within circa 30 minutes) at MANSTON Airport, hopefully this testing will be expanded to other locations but at present there is no further

Due to the ongoing COVID situation the ban on accompanied vehicles travelling to France remains. The port of Dover and the Eurotunnel terminal are currently closed. Inbound accompanied freight from France is ok to travel. Direct routes from GB to Netherlands & Belgium are currently allowing driver accompanied freight although space on these routes will be extremely difficult to get before Christmas.
