The Operation Brock contraflow system has been reinstated on the M20 motorway in Kent to manage anticipated high traffic volumes heading to Europe over the Easter holiday period. The system was activated on Thursday, 3 April 2025, following overnight installation on Wednesday, 2 April.
Operation Brock is a traffic management strategy designed to keep the M20 and surrounding roads in Kent moving smoothly during disruptions or peak travel times. It involves a contraflow system between Junctions 8 (Maidstone) and 9 (Ashford), creating a dedicated lane for HGVs traveling to the Port of Dover or Eurotunnel, while allowing other traffic to flow in both directions using a contraflow on the opposite carriageway.
Drivers are advised to check their routes before setting off, allow extra time for their journeys, and carry essentials such as food, water, and any necessary medications in case of delays. It's also recommended to stay updated with the latest travel information from National Highways and local news sources.
The below alerts appear on the National Highways website and highlight the current status of Operation Brock, you can check the current status by clicking HERE!
